Discovery Centres

Each day we have discovery centres. These centres are designed to target 4 learning areas: Literacy, Numeracy, Artistic Expression and Fine Motor. These are some examples of our centres.

Lacing letters is great for fine motor development.

We are using beautiful gems to create interesting designs and patterns.

Matching letter gems to our names is fun! Using names to teach letters is meaningful to the children.

We are building numbers out of lego. This is our numeracy centre but it is also great for fine motor and spatial awareness. We are creating 3D numbers by looking at 2D pictures!

  1. On the very first day of school our little Kayla was so scared about starting Kindergarten. She definitely did not want to go, and she said she wanted to quit school, before she had even started! Later that day when she got home from school she had a big smile on her face and said Kindergarten is “AWESOME!!” That made us very happy to see her so excited about school. I hope you are all having an exciting time in Kindergarten too. It is so wonderful that Mrs. Straub is making learning fun for you! You sure have been busy in the Discovery Centres, creating amazing patterns out of gems, lacing letters, and learning while playing with Lego. Meeting so many new friends must be super awesome! Kindergarten is the best!

Thank you for posting your blogs. Keep having fun!

We also have a message for our precious birthday girl…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAYLA! Have a wonderful day at school!
